Our Story by Juan & Sergio Trujillo

We grew up around cacao our whole lives, hardly aware of Huila's famed fertile volcanic soils, perfect for growing celebrated coffee varietals.

Naturally, as adults we went to the city, we studied, we worked and we moved far away to build our lives. We drank coffee and worked harder and faster.

Then we pivoted, trading everything in to open Desnudo Coffee in Austin, TX of 2022.Desnudo was born out of a desire to create connection and cultivate change.

Desnudo

Desnudo means naked; flavors and intentions stripped down to a natural and pure state. From the moment we opened the window of that first tiny trailer, we invited people to learn with us, to slow their day down and consider the chain effects of every decision. We shared our new supply chain model, where no intermediaries are involved, where education is key and where as a result our coffee tastes incredible and people are happy. Farmers who would have sold their land if they had tried to work with associations that dilute their worth, customers who wouldn't have become friends and family.

Today, our community has grown both in Austin and in Colombia, where our team, family and farmer friends embrace constant coffee education and experimentation. We're roasting the freshest beans available and proving that Change is Possible, One Farm at a Time.

Sourcing Coffee Beyond a Simple Transaction

Growing up in a coffee region, we understand how challenging the market can be for small producers. We believe coffee can be more than just a commodity; with passion and care, each coffee can be unique and special. That's why we partner with small producers who share our vision, working together on long-term projects that ensure fair prices, sustainable practices, and a better future for all.

Cultivating Change

By working directly with small family-run farms we can impact their lives by teaching them new techniques, encourage them to produce special coffees, with sustainable practices, regenerative agriculture, and a mindset that helps build a better future for their kids, and in turn, our own.

How Do We Do This?

We cut out all the middlemen

Coffee farmers typically receive only 6-10% of global coffee sales, mainly due to the many intermediaries involved. We work directly with the farmers to ensure they receive a fair price for their hard work.

We promote education and innovation on the farm

One of our primary goals is to educate small coffee producers in specialty coffee production and to innovate in new processing methods, creating unique coffees.
